Windows Server 2008 R2 Active Directory Password Complexity and Other Settings

By steve - Posted on 15 August 2012

I don't use Active Directory and Policies enough to remember which is the proper place when I want to adjust the draconian password complexity settings on a Windows 2008 Server.

Here's how...

Click:

  • Start
  • Administrative tools
  • Group policy management
  • Domains
  • Group policy objects
  • Right-click on default domain policy
  • Edit
  • Computer configuration
  • Policies
  • Security settings
  • Account policy
  • Double-click on "password must meet password complexity requirement" and disable it
  • Run: gpupdate
